Additional Info:	I've always enjoyed taking pictures, but it wasn't until 2001 that I started getting serious about photography. I received a Canon Rebel film camera for my birthday, just prior to my first trip to Africa. I took some classes to learn the technical aspect of the camera, along with lots of practice shots of everything. The trip to Africa changed my life, as well as how I saw things through the lens. It also confirmed what I had expected, that my favorite subjects to photograph are animals. A photograph allows us to study the subject matter in more detail and better appreciate what been captured... things like textures, color, locations, composition and lighting to name a few. If my photography speaks to you, if it evokes an emotion in you or makes you think, then I've done my job in showing you the beauty in what I see. Some of my work can be seen at the Cougar Mountain Zoo in Issaquah, WA in the form of gift cards & postcards. I am a contributor to the online stock agency, iStockphoto.com. I volunteer with various rescue organizations, taking pictures of the animals that are available for adoption. In 2006, the American Zoological Association (AZA) licensed a photograph of an elephant, which I took in Africa, for the cover of their monthly magazine. In 2007, I was hired by the Northwest GTO Legends car club to photograph some of their cars for a calendar. In early 2009, I was named a semi-finalist in the 2009 Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year, a contest sponsored by the BBC, which received over 48,000 entries. And later in 2009, Holland America licensed a photograph I took of one of their ships while on an Alaskan cruise. I shoot with a Canon 40D & a variety of lenses. I'm originally from Denver, relocating to the Northwest ten years, ago. I now reside in Sammamish with my husband & biggest supporter, Christian, along with our rescue critters: Gracie & Oscar, the most spoiled cats in the NW, Moki, the wonder dog and Marta, a dog all the way from Taiwan!
