For many years he focussed on industrial, architectural and corporate photography, but is increasingly concentrating on advertising work, portraits, lifestyle and more personal projects.

This recent change of direction has enabled him to combine his extensive technical experience of industrial photography and corporate work, with commissions that are not only more creative, but also allow for expression of a more personal vision in which atmosphere, taste and emotion are the more dominant elements. He wanted to take his work into an area where the components of a single, or a series of images, tell a story and move one emotionally, rather than simply to show or serve as testimony.

Marios‚'s desire to produce images that are more emotional has led to a particularly productive period, including more personal works like MATERIALS‚ JAZZ or BUILDINGS (published in Great Britain by Rotovision) together with more recent work focussing on portraits both of people, and urban landscapes.

The result of this more creative, expressive approach has been to increase the work Mario is doing with Advertising Agencies and Art Directors. It also now underlies the images he produces for stock libraries both in the United States, and internationally with many agencies (Corbis, Zefa, Masterfile, Photonostop, Siephoto, etc.).

Mario‚'s expertise has also been sought by educational establishments. Since 1998 he has taught at The European Institute of Design of Rome (1999 - 2001); the Architecture Department of Sapienza University in Rome (2000 - 2003); the Superior Institute of Photography of Rome (since 2000) and since 2005 at Marne le Vallée University (Paris neighbourhood). Teaching has been very important to him. It‚'s been a learning experience - not only in the art of photography but also on a more personal level in terms of the relationship he build with his students and what they teach him.

EQUIPMENT
Mario Guerra works both with traditional and digital cameras in all existing standards, depending on the needs of shooting and assignment:
Large format: Sinar and Toyo (8x10 inches, 4x5 inches, 6x9 cm)
Medium format: Hasselblad (6x6 cm), Mamiya (6x7 cm).
Small format: Canon and Nikon (24x36 mm)
Fees: Once I am on a project, I try to fit at the best the budget, with all the best creativity, general and technical quality I can. Usually offering more services than requested.
If it is the case, I like to be considered almost like a partner of the creative process, so usually I’d prefer don’t evaluate my work upon the number of images to produce (although often I must do that). I’d prefer rather to consider the number of production's days or just the fixed budget.
Definitely I think nowadays this is the best way to work: by fitting the available budget, it is the best way to obtain easier the best and the maximum from me. :-)
Specialisms: Artistic Photography, Commercial Photography, Events / Functions, Portrait Photography, Video Production, OTHER
